Job SummaryUtilizes security and risk mitigation knowledge,
processes, and procedures to effectively deter, delay, detect, and
respond to security incidents. Essential Functions
- Conducts investigations regarding known or suspected acts
detrimental to the Company's best interest in accordance with
applicable laws and rules of evidence pertaining to conducting
interviews, obtaining signed statements, obtaining photographic or
forensic evidence, and documenting investigative reports.
- Performs on-call duty (includes after-hours, weekends,
holidays) on a rotational basis and takes appropriate action
pertaining to emergencies.
- Conducts security assessments and inspections to assure
compliance with security standards, policies, and procedures
applicable to the electric and natural gas industries.
- Develops and conducts security training programs for Company
employees.
- Makes recommendations for periodic awareness communications and
posters.
- Performs activities required to protect company personnel and
executives, assets, confidential information, Company-sponsored
events, and other business interests.
- Performs activities required to procure, monitor, maintain, and
respond to electronic security systems such as card access control
systems, closed-circuit television systems, programmable key
systems, and alarm systems.
- Coordinates activities of contracted security services
including, but not limited to, guard services, off-duty police
officers, repair of electronic security systems, and security
background investigation companies.
- Maintains an active liaison program with law enforcement,
governmental agencies, and colleagues in the private sector in
order to learn alternate security technology, procedures, and
programs which may benefit the company.
- Performs and documents properly all work assignments in a
timely, accurate, and confidential manner using Microsoft Office.
Education Description
- Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Criminal
Justice or a related field
- Will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy
experience for non-degree candidates Experience
- 1 to 4 years of professional experience in an occupation
utilizing physical security technologies, practices, and procedures
Physical Requirements
- Able to communicate orally in a clear manner.
- Able to hear oral communication in person, over a telephone or
mobile phone.
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop,
for extended periods of time creating
- Able to frequently exert a minimal amount of force to lift,
carry, push, pull or otherwise move file boxes, electric or gas
meters needed as evidence, laptop computers, recovered property,
and other objects usually weighing less than 50 pounds.
- Able (and licensed) to operate a motor vehicle, including
ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted, and travel long
distances.
- Able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to reach, grasp and move items.
- Able to operate office equipment, including telephone, mobile
phone, photocopier, fax machine, scanner and calculator.
- Able to work long-hours for several weeks at a time when an
Emergency Operations Plan is activated. Working Conditions
- Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of
whether cubicle, open office or private office.
- Able to work outdoors, in and out of a vehicle, with some
exposure to all weather conditions.
- Able to work in unpleasant locations such as in high crime
areas
- Able to work overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled, nights
and/or weekends) as needed or required.
- Able to travel, occasionally overnight and out-of-state, as
