Job Description:
What this job involves: Oversee and monitor the operation and
make adjustments of refrigeration, emergency backup systems and
boiler systems; monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains
refrigeration, chilled water; boilers, pumps, valves, piping and
filters; other mechanical or electrical equipment; record readings
and make adjustments where necessary to assure proper operation of
equipment. Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various
systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take
corrective action as required. Required to workday and/or night
shifts as required. What your day-to-day will look like:
- Monitors operation and maintains refrigeration, water cooling
and boilers; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical
and electrical equipment; recording readings as necessary to assure
proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any
problems/malfunctions.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all base building and
critical system equipment which includes but not limited to:
assembling all tools, supplies and instruments necessary to
complete the job, performing work with a minimum amount disruption,
conducting immediate cleanup of work area, completing preventive
maintenance documentation, reporting any impending supply or
material shortages to the Chief Engineer or Supervisor of any
equipment problems.
- Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and
maintenance of building and equipment.
- Keep logs, document equipment repairs, close work orders, track
time accurately in reports and provide timely communications with
the Chief Engineer or Supervisor.
- Must be capable of identifying, utilizing and operating tools
and equipment associated with craft discipline.
- Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend and recognize all
job-related work permits and complete Job Hazard Analysis.
- Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective
equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear,
chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying
respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, flame retardant
coveralls, flash suit with gloves and hood, hard hat, ear plugs,
and safety glasses.
- Should be able to order materials.
- Must be able to work in high places (not afraid of heights) and
work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work off lifts and scaffolds and understand
elevated work standards.
- Comply with policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal
of hazardous materials.
- Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances,
Codes, or Laws
- Document work performance and materials procurement, as
directed.
- Any and all other duties assigned. Work Schedule: 4/3 5PM -
5:30AM
- Monday through Wednesday
- Monday through Thursday Desired or preferred experience and
technical skills:
- Minimum of two years of related trade schooling or two years of
work involving chillers and boilers a plus!
- Experience with plumbing systems and basic plumbing
repairs.
- Familiarity with electrical systems and ability to perform
minor electrical repairs.
- Understanding of building automation systems
- Troubleshooting skills for various mechanical and electrical
systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
- Adequate skills to perform required job functions with minimal
supervision.
- Able to work in a customer service environment interacting with
the client.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Conflict resolution skills. Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or state equivalent.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to communicate well in both oral and written
reports.
- Proficient with computer-based systems and programs, including
Microsoft Office and Outlook,
- Ability to lift, bend, and move to perform job tasks safely;
must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Capable of overhead work / working at heights.
- Skilled and physically able to operate electric hand tools,
work on a ladder, carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate
required equipment, and operate a motor vehicle.
- Able to work in confined spaces such as closets, crawl spaces,
attics, vaults, etc.
- Subject to 24-hour availability and required to work in all
weather conditions.
